What Is Causing Pain In Left Testicle In A 14 Yr Old Child?

My 14 yr old son woke up this morning complaining that his left testicle was hurting. The school nurse called and said he had been to the office twice today because of the pain. Do you know what might be causing the pain? Mind you he wasn't hit there or hasn't done any heavy lifting either.

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Having pain in testis in a boy of 14 due to infection is very rare.
It is possible that the trauma would have been a trivial thing or it would have been a routine activity of laying , jumping or so a boy of 14 does.
The major reason I can think of a pain in a boy of 14 is torsion.
Needs urgent ultrasonography and color doppler examination to rule out ''torsion'' of the testis.
