What Is Chest Pain And Difficulty To Breathe Indicative Of?
Im a 21 year old women and in the past ive had these small episodes of what i think is angina but last night i had a really bad episode it left me cluching the left side of my chest just under my breast it was so bad i cried and it would get worse to the piont where i couldnt breath at times and then get down to a more bearable state after time i layed down taking small breathes and fell asleep im waking up now and its still happening but its not so bad its just i cant breath past a certain capacity without the pain i ont know what to do
Angina refers to episodes of chest pain due to decreased blood supply in the heart.
Typically this would normally occur during activity because these are the times when the heart is working more than usual. After the person has these episodes of chest pain on activity, the pain may then progress to pain at rest.
If you pain occurred when you were at rest , it is very unlikely that it was heart related. It is also unusual for heart pain to occur at your age unless there is a strong history of heart disease.
Chest pain can be due to any structure in the chest from the skin inwards- skin, muscles, bones (sternum and ribs), lungs, heart, esophagus. It is possible that your pain started from one of these structures.
If it continues, you should see your doctor for assessment.
I hope this helps
