What Is Degenerative Disc Disease?

hi, ive had a car accident a year ago and just had results of mri scan, ive got disc osteophyte bulge indenting the interior csf space at c3/c4 level. also at c6/c7 the disc is reduced in height. it also reads degenerative disc disease at multiple levels of the cervical spine... could you please tell me what this means in non doctor speak please... thankyou.
