What Is Dental Plaques & How Are They Removed ?
I saw a dentist yesterday and the doctor said that i have dental plaques and it has to be reomoved other wise i will get severe infection of the gums and teeth, Is it true. What are theses Dental plaques. How are they removed.

your dentist is right and you should follow his instruction ...............
if you will not go for the removal of plaque,it will get accumulate layer by layer and will convert in to hard deposites/ calculs.......
and this calculus will cause gingival inflammation called gingivitis.......
gingivitis if left untreated results in red swollen bleeding gums........
it will lead to the destruction of supporting structure called periodontitis..........
like this this plaque will damage your oral structures...........
so i will suggest you please go to your dentist and follow his instructions properly.............
and maintain oral hygiene......

Dental plaque is a biofilm, usually a pale yellow, that develops naturally on the teeth. Like any biofilm, dental plaque is formed by colonizing bacteria trying to attach themselves to the tooth's smooth surface. If they allowed to remain for the long time on the tooth surface it get converted into dental calculus.
It can be clinically diagnosed with help of discoloring agent .
Side effects of dental plaque are- gingival inflammation, gum swelling , halitosis , periodontal inflammation, gingival recession , bone loss.
I suggest you to visit dentist get scaling done , maintain oral hygiene , prevent food retention, use antiseptic mouth wash , brush twice daily , do flossing properly twice.

Dental plaque is the soft deposits formed by bacterial colonization in the oral cavity due to poor oral hygiene habits like improper brushing and flossing habits.
Accumulation of bacterial plaque deep in the gum pockets and root surfaces of teeth leads to gingival inflammation know as gingivitis.
Gingivitis presents with symptoms of redness , bleeding gums , swelling , pain ,recession and sensitivity and even mobility of teeth and exfoliation if not treated in time.
It needs to be treated by thorough professional deep scaling of gums and root planing of the teeth to remove all the irritants ,this will help in resolving the symptoms followed by a course of antibiotic and analgesics.

If not treated at early stage then gets calcified & leads to calculus formation.
It may lead to bleeding gums, foul odor & sensitivity of teeth.
If removed by oral prophylaxis then may lead to receding gums.
Its better to go for oral prophylaxis every 6 months.

plaq is deposite of food and bacteria around tooth.plaq deposites because covalent bond between saliva(-ve charged ions) and masticated food particles (+ve charged ions).plaq causes bleeding gums,(gingivitis)after some time in plaque become hard by calcium deposition and form calculus.

Plaque is a soft, sticky mixture of bacteria, waste products from bacteria, and some food debris. It irritates the gums, or gingiva, and causes inflammation over time: gingivitis. The longer plaque is left on the teeth, the harder it gets. After 24 hours, some plaque hardens into calculus, otherwise known as tartar. Calculus is mineralized plaque and does not come off with the brush and floss anymore. The bacteria in plaque and calculus cause an ongoing state of inflammation called gingivitis. If left untreated, gingivitis can progress to a more serious disease called periodontitis. The most common treatment for periodontitis is scaling and root planing.Periodontal scaling procedures "include the removal of plaque, calculus and stain from the crown and root surfaces of teeth. in simple terms, plaque is just collection of bacteria along with food debris. if dont removed , it leads to formation of calculus and also leads to gingivitis and periodontitis , bleeding from gums , loosening of teeth, sensitivity problems after denuding of roots etc. so its better to get scaling done of your teeth at the earliest.

yes ,plaque causes gingivitis,periodontitis,gum diseas and because of that your teeth become mobile,pain ful, bleeding gums,bad breath so consult dentist.it will remove by scaling.

Hi, Dental plaque is a film of microorganisms and food deposits. This layer is very harmful to the gingiva. It should be removed by scaling where plaque and calculus around the teeth and gingiva are removed and thus maintaining a healthy oral cavity. Scaling of teeth should be done once in 6 months and flossing of teeth should be done once daily to remove plaque in between teeth.

First of all plaque is never visible unless you apply a stain to see it.Its a very thin film of coating which appears on the tooth surface & gums.This acts as a meshwork(like a spiders web) and accumulates to form into calculus which is very harmful to your gums and underlying bone support.Once formed,no matter how many times you brush,plaque will never go unless treated by a professional. Scaling and polishing is the answer and later followed & maintained by proper brushing & mouth washes and regular visits to a dentist.

plaque are the deposits made up of food particles along with micro organism. you should go for a scaling and polishing. otherwise it will become calculus and strongly adhere to the teeth causing infection to your gums and bone making your teeth mobile after a longtime. take care . happy smile.

these are yellow colored plaques even i had, but use of rexidin solution cleansed the plaques. you can also try.
