Hello there,

Thank you for the query.

Gingivitis is inflammation of gum tissues results in response to bacterial biofilm (plaque) adherent to tooth surfaces, restorations and dental prosthesis in the oral cavity.

If gingivitis left untreated,it may progress in to periodontal structures destruction known as periodontitis.

Treatment of gingivitis includes-
1.Maintain good oral hygiene.
2.Biannual dental check-ups and get the scaling done (if needed).
3.Rinse the oral cavity after each meal.
4.Brush your teeth properly twice daily with a soft tooth brush.
5.Use betadin mouth wash after brushing your teeth twice daily for 15 days.

Hello there ,

Thanks for writing your query,

Gingivitis is the condition of inflammation of the gums.

It is caused due poor oral hygiene ,improper brushing and flossing that leads to accumulation of bacterial plaque and calculus deep in the gum pockets and root surfaces of the teeth.

Gingivitis presents with symptoms of redness , bleeding gums , swelling , pain ,recession and sensitivity.

It needs to be treated by thorough professional deep scaling of gums and root planing of the teeth to remove all the irritants ,this will help in resolving the symptoms followed by a course of antibiotic and analgesics.

i would suggest you to go for symptomatic treatment at home like gargling with lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine or betadine.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

Hello and Welcome to HCM,
Thanks for writing to us.
as per your explanation it is clear that you have gum inflammation, called gingivitis...when there are deposits over the tooth surface, gum gets inflamed resulting in gum swelling...as the gums swell, the capillaries in the gums gets pushed to the surface and mild stimulation would result in bleeding....
You have to go for regulars cleanings after every 6 months. Along with this maintain very good oral hygiene like brushing twice daily along with flossing. Do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day and you can massage your gums with some good OTC gum paint. You can take vitamin C supplement which makes the gums healthy
Hope this helps you.
Wishing you good health...
Regards.
