What Is Grey/hazy Line Across The Bottom Quarter Of The Retina In A Back Photograph Of The Eye?

Hi, I went for an eye test today (just a check up) I have astigmatism in my right eye, can't focus on anything far or close, and have been prescribed glasses. I had the photograph to check the back of the eyes and the right eye had a grey/hazey line all across the bottom quarter of the retina. They said it could just be my eyelashes or my eye lid however it was taken twice and still turned out the same. They called me up and said the optician wants to see me personally and to go back in next week. They are possibly going to do dilation however I am a little scared as the women sounded like there was more behind this finding. What could this grey, haze on my retina be??

Hello
it seems from the history that you are having astigmatism and using spectacles for correction.
As you have mentioned that a fundus photograph was taken and it is showing gray or hazy line. This requires fundus photo to be takne under good pupillary dilatation and illumination as normally any artefacts can lead to this finding.
Hence I advice you to undergo the test.

Thank you
