What Is Hard Spot Below Surgery Site After Laproscopy?

my wife had laparoscopic cholecystectomy just over a week ago. She is feeling fine, other than tenderness around surgery entry sites. However, the umbilical site has a firm spot directly below the cut. There is no redness, swelling or fever just the hard area under the cut. When she pushes on it it does not move, just a hard spot. She has a follow up with her surgeon in a few days, what could this firm spot be?

hi.

if the surgery was unremarkable and there are no post-operative complications, then it is not worrisome.

the firm spot directly below the cut you are feeling is most probably a fibrosis underneath.. it's like scarring, only on the inside. this happens during wound healing.

have a follow-up with your surgeon as well.

hope this helps.

good day!
