Hi Doctor, I have a bulge in my stomach area on the left side. Consulted with a doctor, first he asked me to cough then he said it is hernia. Could you please let me be aware of more about this disease, is it a disease which needs an urgent surgery or how soon should I go on treatment for this. Please advise. Regards,

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. Hernia is a condition where the abdominal organs :eg: intestines come out of the abdominal cavity and appear as a swelling. this gradually increases over months. final solution to this condition is surgery. It can lead to other complications if left unattended later on. its better to get operated when you are young and without other diseases. Consult a surgeon as soon as possible.i hope this was of help to you
