What Is Inflammation On Back Of Hand Suggestive Of?

i just noticed some inflammation on the back of my left hand. It is not a bug bite or cut of any type just an all of a sudden an inflammation on the back of my hand. It looks like a blood pocket or blood inflammation. It does not hurt or ache in any way just sudden inflammation. I have ice on it now hoping to decrease the problem. Is there any reason to worry?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of inflammation on back of hand which can occur due to allergic reaction known as utricaria , inflammatory conditions of the joints (arthritis). It could be due to vitamin deficiency as well. I would suggest you to use a moderately potent topical steroid such as fluticasone, twice daily over the whole affected area and use it for 5-7 days. Wash area with plain water and apply ice pressure on it. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined to find out exact cause of lesion and start treatment accordingly. Drink plenty of water. Doctor may also refer you to rheumatologist, Who may order certain test like CBC, ESR, Rh factor, ASO titre, C Reactive protein, Serum uric acid, Urine analysis, and the x rays of the hands to confirm the diagnosis . For now take anti inflammatory .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
