Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is Itchy, Sore, Red Mark On Vulva Suggestive Of?
I have a distinct red mark on my vulva. Sometimes it itches. Sometimes it s a bit sore but only really when I touch the area. I shower twice daily and only use water to clean the area. I recently had a positive swab test for Bacterial Vaginosis but didn t receive treatment as I had no symptoms at the time (I probably did have this red area then, but I hadn t noticed it). Could it be related? My vaginal area is fine. The red area looks like blood near the surface. Thank you for your help.
Hello dear Understand your concern I think it is vaginal infection mostly due to bacteria/ dermatitis If it is associated with foul discharge , it is confirmation sign of bacterial vaginosis. You take following advice Tablet metronidazole Lacto bacilli orally or vaginally
Hydrocortisone ointment Shower with salted warm water Wear pure cotton loose inner wear Apply aplple cider vinegar Wipe pelvic area after urination and sex Avoid sex till you get better
If not resolves contact the gynecologist Pelvic examination Do microscopy and culture , swab taken from urethre or vaginal dischagr PCR, NAAT and ELISA for STDs also
Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
