What Is Meaning Of Left Adrenal Gland Bulky In Ct Scan?
I am a case of 1/3 Tongue cancer .I had 66 gy Radiation and 6 Chemotherapies during August 2010,and have gone thru I nonth,3 months,3 months,6months check ups(they were all normal) and an yearly check up.last fortnight 22.10.2011 In the last check up they conducted a whole body PET scan and concurrently a CT scan.,it was all O.K except for a remark In the Abdomen area ,it was remarked as "left adrenal gland is bulky" and was qualified by " No significant FDG uptake is seen in bulky left Adrenal "gland". I was subjected to an ultrasound examination and was mentioned as NAD. Is anything likely to be wrong ? By the way my S.Creatin is around 1.5 . what precautions have I take regarding diet Etc I am 70 years old Male S.V.Subba Rao
The adrenal glands are variable in size in most of the population as long they are within normal range. Your CT scan shows the adrenal slightly bulky and at the upper limits of normal size. As FDG uptake is not present there is no disease in the left adrenal gland. Mention is made in the report because next time the doctor will be careful and keep in mind the bulky nature of left adrenal gland.
