What Is My EKG Report Suggestive Of?

EKG has come back High Risk Operation(was due to have a procedure done to fix deviated septum shortly). Notes suggest ST Elevation, consider early repolarization, pericarditis or injury. ST and T wave abnormality, consider anterior ischemia. I have noticed fleeting upper back/shoulder pain in recent months which I attributed to exercise and lifting weights. Do suffer from fatigue intermittently. Have appointment with Cardiologist in a couple of days but curious to know what all of this means?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The changes suggest that they may be areas of the heart that are not receiving enough blood, this is called ischemia. It would not be associated with the shoulder pain that you have been experiencing.

If there is a history of diabetes or smoking or high cholesterol or hypertension or family history of heart disease or overweight/obese- any of these can be risk factors for developing heart disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
