What Is My Pap Test Result Suggestive Of?

hi, just rescently had a pap test done and I got my results back and they read: Diagnosis: Epithelial Call Abnormality. Low-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion (LGSIL); Mild Dysplasia and Human papillomavirus effects are present. Specimen Adequacy: Satisfactory for evaluation. Endocervical and or squamous metaplastic cells (endocervical component) are present. Comments: both false positive and false-negative reports do occur. The Hpv DNA reflex criteria were not met , there for no Hpv testing was performed. Now my question is does that mean I have HPV? What does this mean?

Hello,

The cells looked like HPV but the DNA test didn't show up with the types they tested for. Certainly, the test may just fail and also it can be right but the type of HPV present wasn't in the test so, it missed that one. So, it might be or might not be HPV.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
