What Is Odd Appearing Thing On The MRI Report?

Hello. I recently signed up as a test subject in a medical experiment involving seasonal fluctuations in brain melatonin levels and depression. As part of the experiment, I had a functional MRI taken of my brain. The picture was sent, on my request, to my email. However, I noticed something strange around the right frontal that just seemed odd. Do you have any idea what it might be? A smudge or an error during the MRI?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Functional MRI is a new tool in the area of brain research. It is important to see the picture before I can comment on it. Functional MRI shows areas of brain activity and inactivity when doing a certain experiment. I supposed you were asked to do certain tasks and MRI images were acquired. It is important to know what tasks you were asked to do to know exactly which areas in the brain were stimulated. In most cases a slight variability in the colors seen on images in both hemispheres of the brain might differ. This can be taken as normal activity.
