What Is Persistent Severe Pain In Shoulder Suggestive Of?

I went and saw a Dr. at NM Orthopedics today for sudden shoulder pain. I had xrays and the Dr. examined me and said the problem is muscular and he recommended physical therapy. After I left the office, my shoulder began hurting and by the time I got home, the pain had increased to a point that I could hardly move my arm. I iced it and took acetomenihen, and after a couple hours, the pain be gan to subside. I can t imagne physical therapy would help, as movents can cause the severe pain to reappear - any suggestions?

Such type of pain is usually due to spasm of muscle or strain of tendon. Rest is important in both of these conditions. Local hot and cold compress may help in relieving pain.
