What Is Post Scabies Itch Syndrome?

Is there such a thing as post scabie itch syndrome? If so what can it consist of? I have treated with permithan twice then ivermectin twice....then eurax....we came in contact with the person I believe gave it to us...I did not really have a major rash...just a creepy crawly feeling and it was worse at night...after last dose of iver on the 3 rd of October....I have Lil bumps that look like poison ivy and still a tingle feeling...is this post scabies? I have washed ...vacuumed..cleaned everything...I also the only one experiencing this out of four ppl...I was also first one to get it back in July this started

Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

After adequate treatment for scabies, itching may last for a few days i.e 5-7 days, because of hypersensitivity to dead mites in skin.
However, if this has lasted more than this duration then it might be a different thing altogether.
One possibility to consider is papular urticaria. Papular urticaria is an itchy skin condition in which lesions resemble lesions of scabies.
Papular urticaria, is in fact a hypersensitive reaction to mosquito bites. These lesions are mainly distributed on exposed body sites like arms and legs.
If I were treating doctor I would have suggested a topical steroid+antibiotic combination cream, twice daily for a few days.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
