What Is Procedure To Widen Heart Valve?

hi, my mom is a smoker (i don y know if this is the problem or not) and her heart has been partly calcefied and she also has a tear in the top of her heart but the doctor says thats not even the biggest problem. the valve in heart heart that runs up to middle has gotten smaller and she is going to have heart surgery but not open. how will the procedure work and what are they going to do exactly do you think?

Sounds like you are talking about TAVR/TAVI. This is a valve replacement done through the artery with a catheter based system.it is relatively new procedure.You can watch a video of the procedure on youtube.(Trans catheter valve replacement)
