What Is Severe Pain In Lower Abdomen Radiating To The Back Suggestive Of?

I have severe lower mid and right abdominal pain that radiates to my lower mid back area as well. Stool and urine tests all negative. Lying down relieves pain somewhat. Standing is ok too, but sitting and getting up from sitting or lying download is very painful. Stenosis? Other spinal problem? This morning I had very yellow diarrhea. No fever. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain in the lower abdomen radiating to the back can be an indication of Appendicitis, IBS, gastritis, indigestion, hernia, kidney infection or disease. Get physically examined, get all the investigations done to detect the factor causing you discomfort. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the disease. It will either be treated with medications or surgery if required.

For pain, you can take NSAIDS (Combiflam/Naproxen), antacids, PPI's Rabeprazole. Stay away from addictions & junk food. Take adequate sleep & avoid stress.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
