What Is Sore, Red And Tight Area On Shin Suggestive Of?

My husband s shin area is hot to the touch and red. There are no cuts or puncture wounds (spider) that I see. It is overall red even. I outlined the red area with a black marker to see if it s spreading and it has not spread in the 4 hours since drawing on his leg. What do you think this may be. It is sore and tight.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
It is difficult to comment without examination, do either upload the picture of the same or see doctor for examination.
It might be hematoma, which might have occurred as result of some blunt injury, which some times occur unknowingly. It will resolve on its own and does not require any intervention, but need to be confirmed by doctor.
Hope this helps.
Take care
