What Is The Best Medicine For Severe Hair Loss?
I have had Crohns since I was 10 yrs old, with over 2 ft of upper and lowerintestine removed at age 20. I am now almost 61. Relatively good health and on very little med s. Was wondering if saw palmetto or a dht blocker would help thicken my hair. My hair is fine, i m blonde, and goes in and out of losing a little hair in my comb in the morning. Will either of these help to stop hair loss or hair thinning?

Hair thinning and hair fall is usually due to androgenetic alopecia in males.
The underlying cause is DHT(Dihydrotestosterone) which induces miniaturization of hair and therefore is the main culprit for this type of hair loss.
DHT is derived from circulating testosterone by the action of an enzyme present in hair follicle, 5 alpha reductase.
Saw palmetto extract Or finasteride inhibit this enzyme and therefore prevent synthesis of DHT.
The goal of treatment is to arrest Or prevent further thinning and thereby reduce the rate of balding. Therefore treatment should be started as early as possible.
These are both prescription medications, therefore I suggest that you talk to a doctor in your region for the needful.
