What Is The Best Position To Sleep In If After Ear Drum Has Been Ruptured By Ear Infection?

An ear infection ruptured my eardrum. How do I sleep on it now? When I lie on it so that it can drain, it really hurts. But I'm afraid of sleeping on the other ear because I'm afraid the drainage will go deeper into my head or solidify in there. I started Augmentin bid this morning. Aldo, when might this start to feel better? Thanks.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding position in sleeping (left or right) if ear drum is ruptured by infection.

I would like to tell you that recovery doesn't depends on the way you are sleeping and you may sleep on any side where you feel comfort. as far as treatment is concern you should -

1- Don't put any ear drop in the ear .

2- Clean your ear canal by a cotton swab.

3- Took Anti histaminic.

4- Took Decongestant.

5- Steam inhalation.

6- Oral antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).

I wish above will help you but ear is an important organ so it will be better to consult your ENT doctor for better care and to avoid any complications.

Regards.
