What Is The Bump On The Place Where The Doctor Inserted The Birth Control?

Hello, my name is kaitlyn! I got the birth control implant, in January I believe. (2014) it is 4 months later and it is very sore, nothing I can t handle. Where my doctor inserted it is turning kind of a red color with a white bump on it. The bump looks kind of like a zit, so therefor I tried to pop it. When I touch the bump it is very hard and feels like it s the end of the implant poking through. But the end of the implant is tiny bit above where it feels like it s poking out. Any ideas on what this is?

Hi,

It may be due to minor inflammation at the site of insertion. Generally it will settle by itself and you can apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin for symptomatic relief. In case of infection or collection it has to be removed amen re inserted. If the bump persists, you have to consult your gynecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
