What Is The Cause And Remedy For Loose Membrane On The White Of The Eye ?
loose membrane on the white of my eye . I beleive its the sclera . I have notice it for the last couple of weeks. It sits/rests on my bottom eye lid. It does not hurt and my vision is OK. I thought it might just go, but it is still there
Your description suggests that the surface transparent layer over the white coat of the eye has become loose. this layer is called conjunctiva is normally mobile, and attached firmly to the 1mm circular area around the black of the eye. With advancing age, this layer tend to loosen up and can be seen moving over the under white surface. with the effect of gravity it is possible that the layer in the lower half rests on the lower lid. If its on the upper half it fold over onto the cornea (the center circular area) that in case you look for it will stretch if you try to lift your upper lid and will not be visible. This is usually harmless. I may cause dry eyes or increased tearing in a few eyes. In that case it is called CONJUNCTIVAL CHALASIS. you may require to see your eye specialist at that point of time. Take care
