I m highly allergic to sulfa. I was given vancomycin In the hospital and now guess what I now have Steven Johnson syndrome for the third time in my life. Sloughing of the skin on my penis. I was very diligent in sharing my allergy with hospital dr and staff. I m following up with my pup in afternoon.. What if anything can I do to relieve soreness. I also have lost majority of hearing left side. Decreased vision in left eye and now have floaters. Help.I thought this was a help site not a pay site
Dear sir,Steven Johnson syndrome is life threatening complication of drug reaction, I would request you share complete medical history along with drug hypersensitivity to your doctor. There is no specific treatment for SJS and only supportive measures are advised to control the condition.Treatment for milder forms includes 1) antibiotics to prevent or control local infection,2)corticosteroids for itching ,irritation and infllamation3)stopping of medication responsible for allergy on doctors advice 3)moist compresses of aseptic normal saline may be applied to skin lesions I would request to consult a doctor on worsening of symptoms and do not neglect this condition.
