What Is The Cause And Treatment For Depression?

I'm 18 years old and for the last year or two I have been feeling really down and seem to focus on the negative things in my life. I don't enjoy things I used to and I think about what it would be like if something just happeneds to me and I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. If it wasn't for my best friend I don't think I would be here.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

I went through your query and can understand what you must be going through. You seem to be suffering from depression which explains all the symptoms that you are suffering from.

I would suggest that you should consult a psychiatrist and initiate treatment for your current state. Anti-depressants like escitalopram or sertraline would be helpful in your case. In addition, you should start exercising which will make you feel better and relax.

I hope that you found the answer helpful. Best wishes.
