What Is The Cause And Treatment For Lump Or Swelling In The Nostril?

i felt a small pea sized lump (or swelling) inside the tip of my nose on one side of my nostrel and then noticed the my nose was abit lumpy looking (not very obvious but i can tell) there is another lump or swelling on the other side of the nostril but not as big. ive had this since aug and then decided to go to the doctor who said it did look inflammed inside and gave me some nasal spray and cream, im not to touch it (as i have been doin which is probably making it worse) and go back in a few weeks if im still concerned. I am abit worried about it and worried it will grow and more lumps will grow. Please can someone advise what may be causing this....i have a prominent nose anyway so this is making me more conscious of it.

Otolaryngologist/ENT Doctor 's  Response
Hi,

From the brief clinical history that you provided the pea sized lump or swelling that you see and feel inside your nostrils are most likely to be normal structures called nasal turbinates (also called nasal concha). These fleshy structures make the air warm and mosit while we breathe in. They may be slightly swollen due to inflammation. In my opinion you should not be too concerned about it. As advised by your doctor please refrain from touching them often.Kindly follow-up with your doctor and follow his/her advice.

Hope this helps.

Dr. Prasad
