What Is The Cause And Treatment For Mastoiditis?

I have ongoing problems w/mastoiditis.......also have allergies which complicate matters (heavy mucous)....can this also be a result of inhaling 2nd hand smoke (hubby is a smoker....outside in the garage, but I m still exposed to it) From what I understand the smoke creates a condition called rhinitus (sp?) which is not a clear when I blow my nose. The allergies create a clear runny mucous....this is how I can tell the difference. So, is there anything I can do to take care of myself....besides staying out of our garage (not really an option)?
