What Is The Cause And Treatment For Pouch Off Douglas?

I have recenltly come out of hopsital and after having a scan found out i have 5mm of fluid in my pouch off douglas. The doctor said he wont do anything about it u have to put up with it. its causeing me alot of pain and discomfort and is affecting my work. is there anything he could off done to help?

The possible causes of minimal fluid in the Pouch of Douglas are:
- Physiological causes like ovulation or menstruation, no treatment needed here
- Pathological causes like pelvic infection
-Rarely ectopic pregnancy, etc.

As the pain is severe, better to consult your gynecologist once and get examined. Clinical examination will help in finding the possibility of pelvic infection and treatment can be planned accordingly. Local and systemic antibiotics help in curing this condition. Urine or blood test for pregnancy can help in ruling out the possibility of ectopic pregnancy. With this work-up the possible causes of your problem can be identified and treatment can be planned accordingly.
