What Is The Cause And Treatment For Sore Throat In A Child?

My son has had a sore throat for about 2 weeks. He is not complaining that it is getting worse, but he does still say it hurts. Looking at his throat tonight, I noticed that red blood vessels are visible all across his tonsils. I figure I should have him checked out, but I also hate unnecessary trips to the doctors - does this sound like something that will clear up on its own?

Hi,

Ask him to do warm salt water gargle. Any throat infection or cold may cause inflammation of tonsils. Drink warm water for few days. If it persists you may go for a paracetamol syrup in a recommended dosage.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
