What Is The Cause For Fluctuation In Brown Discharge After Periods?

I m going to be 46 on 11/09 and I ve been on my period for almost a month. It started out normal and I thought it ended then i had a brown discharge that turned into a heavy flow, some days it s very heavy and some days very light why could this be happening?

Thanks for the query.
During perimenopausal period some amount of fluctuation in the hormonal levels is common.
That can present in different ways.
Some women may see prolonged bleeding also.
But better to get evaluated to rule out pathological conditions.
Consult gynecologist once, get examined and go for ultrasound.
By this workup the possible cause for your problem can be identified.
If only hormonal imbalance is found to be the cause, taking hormonal pills for few months may correct the problem.
If there is any pathology in the uterus like fibroids, polyps etc, treatment to be taken accordingly.
