What Is The Cause For My Nipples To Smell After Breastfeeding My Baby Who Is On Antibiotic For An Upper Respiratory Infection?

I recently began noticing a body-odor smell coming from my nipples. I'be been breastfeeding for over 10 weeks. This just started a couple of weeks ago, right around the time my baby was on an antibiotic for an upper respiratory infection. I am a VERY clean person, shower every day and do use soap on the nipples even though it is not recommended due to the drying effect it can have. Do I have some sort of bacteria or infection, maybe caused by my little one's infection or antibiotic? I have not changed anything in my diet or medications over the last 10 weeks I've been breastfeeding. Thank you.

Hello,
Thank you for the post on HCM,
I had gone through your history and understand your concern.
As you have mentioned in your history that you have followed good hygiene practices, the feeling of bad smell after your baby feeding might be because of your baby having upper respiratory tract infection.
As your baby is on medicine, when your baby sucks it will breaths in the middle that may be leading to smell after feeding.
Nothing to bother keep you breast and nipple clean before and after breast feeding.
Hope you are satisfied with my answer. Feel free to post the query.
Thank you.
