What Is The Cause For Painful And Swollen Hands And Legs When On Fexofenadine?

Hello Dr. I ve taken a nasty allergy to amoxicillin (not been allergic in the past I am 37), had all over hives and itchy rash for 4-5 days. My Dr has prescribed fexofenadine and chlorophenamine to ease itching which has helped to some degree however now the rash is subsiding I am turning black & blue and my hands and feet have swollen and are extremely painful, especially to walk. Can you let me know if this is a normal part of the healing process? Thank you.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
As you have developed allergy to the amoxycillin, for which your doctor have prescribed the antihistamine drugs to combat the reactions.
You are having a very severe allergic reaction to amoxycillin, the rashes will take some time to reduce.
In addition to this you can try
Application of ice packs on the rashes
Application of steroid creams
Oral short course steroids.
You can consult with your doctor for these drugs.
Thank you.
