What Is The Cause For Stabbing Pain In The Chest Above The Breast?

I am 62 and for the last 2 months I have been having acute burning stabbing pain in the right upper chest just above the breast. It can happen several times a day, or several days in between. It happens most of the time when I am just sitting but it has happened when I am active. My father died of a heart attack at the age of 80.

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having hyper acidity or gastritis giving you this problem.
But many a time coronary pain gives rise to this type of pain.
Consult your doctor.
Go for EKG to rule out coronary insufficiency or angina.
Ok and take care.
