What Is The Cause For The Pain In My Waist And Ribs After Having A Full Hysterectomy?

hi I had ovarian cancer 4 years ago and am now waiting for a laminectomy. I have developed a sharp pain at my waist spreading up into below my right side ribs. It isn,t there all the time It just grabs me during the day. It really makes me bend over until it eases. I also had cancer in my lymph glands in my legs a small spot on my bladder and bowel. I had a full hysterectomy. Would this pain be related

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

The pain may be muscular pain due to stretching as you experience it only during daytime. Try cold compresses and local diclofenac ointment for a day or two to see if it stops.
Other cause may be related to the ovarian cancer as you had positive nodes or it may be a result of spinal cord compression.
Your query does not mention if you had been tested for any tumor markers and about the follow up to treatment after hysterectomy.

In any case, If a similar patient had visited my clinic, I would suggest a follow up ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis along with a vaginal examination if the pain persisted. If needed further investigations like tumor markers, MRI or PET scan may be done.

The second cause of pain may be related to the urinary system, for example kidney stones. Again an ultrasound will help in diagnosis even in this case.

Hope I was able to help you.
Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day.
