hi,
I guess she has gone through pediatric consultations during her infancy. The condition she has, seems to be cleft palate, a congenital anamaly seen in many syndromes. If the palate is high arched, then the suspicion heightens. If she has poor intelligence and growth also, Down's syndrome may be the cause.
A pediatric surgeon can successfully repair it at an appropriate age, and there after it should cause no worries.
All the best.
