Hi there, i am abit worried as i keep bleeding, i have the implant in my arm had that in now for a year. i peiords stopped for 6 months, but recently they started again since i have been having interourse. These past two months i have bin only bleeding for about 4-5 days but its like a brownish blood, only notice if i wipe myself, as i dont need to use a pad or tampon as it isnt that much?
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. It is common to experience irregular menstrual cycles, prolonged cycles and spotting during the first 6-12 months of insertion of the implant. If you have noticed the spotting every time only after an intercourse, you should see your gynecologist for a speculum examination to exclude any local causes for the spotting. If the spotting/bleeding is seen on a cyclical basis, there is no reason to worry as scanty or absent periods are often seen with the implant. However, periodic check up is a must with every hormone contraceptive.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
