Hey Dr. Rohit Batra, I have been struggling with bacterial vaginosis for some time. I recently got a boyfriend and he said he didnt have anything, STD/HIV. So I gave him oral. I few weeks later I had flem, my ears were plugged, swollen lymph nodes, and my nose was draining. What do you think?
As per your query you have symptoms of blocked ears and runny nose. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to bacterial infection after doing oral that has spread from upper respiratory tract to ear through eustachian tube , which occur sometimes due to low immunity or untreated upper respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry. For now do warm saline gargles, apply dry warm compresses to external ear and drink hot green tea twice. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test , examination of ear with otoscope and CT scan to rule out viral infection and earwax buildup. Doctor may prescribe antiviral like acyclovir or antibacterial along with decongestant and expectorant.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
