Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding blood in sputum on coughing.

Your clinical history is in favour of throat infection may be bacterial, viral or any other specific infection. You have also said for ear blockade all these indicates that basically your nose and sinuses are having infection which is draining back as post nasal drip and infection thus reaches the throat and ear via eustachian tube.

Above explain about your course of infection and throat infection may give rise to blood in sputum.

For confirmation of diagnosis and treatment these basic investigations are necessary-

1- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.

2- X-Ray paranasal sinuses.

3- X-Ray chest.

4- Sputum for Gram's staining.

5- Sputum for Afb and fungus.

Inferences of above investigations are to be clinically co-related with findings of examination to find out the final diagnosis. Finally treatment may be plane out according to diagnosis.

Regards.
