What Is The Cause Of Delay In Period After Sex?

Hi Doctor,
few days back i and my gf had made love with of course protection condom.
but now over 10 days left still my gf not had periods, is that meaning she is pregnant.
already my gf done pregnancy test at home results are negative but still we are worried..
please help me on this situation

Hello, from the history you have given, delay in periods can be due to many causes. Sometimes stress also delays periods.Firstly pregnancy needs to be ruled out. Sometimes the urine pregnancy test may show faintly positive line or will not turn out to be positive, this is because of low levels of beta HCG in early weeks.In that case you can repear the test after few days or sometimes it is better to do a serum beta HCG ( blood test ) if her periods are irregular for confirmation.
