Excessive saliva can be caused by either an increase in your body s production of saliva or a decrease in your ability to swallow or keep saliva in your mouth.The most common cause excessive saliva is gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) which is a condition when the acid stomach moves up into esophagus and up to throat.It cause heartburn,chest pain,excessive saliva production ct.The diagnosis is confirmed by upper endoscopy and relieved is obtained by using PPI drugs (Pantoprazol). Other causes might be liver diseases,pancreatitis,oral infection,some medications,enlarged adenoids.
