I ve been sick for 2 and a half months. It started as what seemed like tonsillitis (fever, sore throat, and so on) so I got antibiotics. I felt fine for a few days until my throat started to hurt again. I ve gone to see several doctors 7 times since then and have gotten two blood tests. They have ruled out mono and strep but said my white blood cell count was a bit high (this was a month ago). I ve also been put on antibiotics 2 more times and neither has been able to deter the symptoms permanently. My symptoms since I first went on antibiotics have been mainly a sore throat. My tonsils and the back of my throat have also been deformed and I m producing lots of mucus (both coughing it up and blowing it out of my nose). The mucus ranges from being clear to white to yellow to brown and there have been a few instances where it has been streaked with blood. I also sometimes get pain in my ears. The pain in my throat and ears ranges from barely being there, to being so bad that I can barely talk or swallow. The symptoms often aren t present or aren t very prevalent during the day but as the days draws on my symptoms become more prevalent. For the last few days, my throat has been hurting constantly. I ve also noticed that sometimes when I cough, my mucus is clear and viscous but it is also very gritty. The last doctor I went to said it was just a virus (this was 2 weeks about) but the extent, bipolarity, and length of my sickness is concerning me and I want to rule out any other options.
