Hi, thank you for asking Healthcare Magic.
With this presentation, I think the problem is gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). The pain and
sore throat you have are as a result of irritation of the
esophagus and throat by acidic substances from the stomach. Barrett's disease could be a complication of this condition. Treatment of GERD involves lifestyle modifications, medications and may be surgery. Concerning lifestyle modifications, I often advise my patients to avoid lying down immediately after meals and to avoid foods that may make the condition worse (Citrus fruits, chocolate, caffeinated drinks or alcohol, spicy, fatty, or fried foods). Medications involve
proton pump inhibitors like
omeprazole. If these fail to resolve the problem, then surgery could be of help.
Other problems like
shortness of breath and breath spasms could be as a result of your heart problem and COPD. May be you need to see your cardiologist and chest specialist.
I hope i have answered your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you.
I wish you good health
