What Is The Diet Recommended For Stabilizing Blood Sugar?

Hello, I am 71 yrs of age. I recently had a blood test done for diabeties. The results revealed that my diatbeties was on the higer side. 263 with food and 186-fasting.

I have not been taking any medication as yet. Also, please advise the diet I should follow to stabilise the sugar levels...thanks

Hello,

Fasting blood sugar more than 126 mg / dl and PPBS more than 200 mg / dl is diagnostic of diabetes.
So you need to seek medical help to control your diabetes.
For your age the target FBS should be maintained below 110 mg / dl and PPBS below 160 mg / dl.
In this situation I would advice my patient to take insulin for control of blood sugar.
Diet should mainly consist of whole grains, vegetables, greens and fruits.
Light exercise like walking for 20 to 45 mind depending upon your cardiac status.
