What Is The Difference Between Lithium And Lithium ER?

What is the difference between Lithium and Lithium ER? I am out of my ER and will call for refill on Monday, may I take leftover caps in bottle Labeled only Lithiumv? Both doses are 300mg am & pm. I have a friend staying with me who takes this and I am not familiar with this class of meds. Thanks! Wow! I have to pay for this simple question, that s silly. I will figure it out. No thanks!

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Lithium-ER is nothing but nothing but extended release tablet( ER stands for extended release).
Both the drugs are of contents you can safely take lithium-ER with out any concerns.
Extended release tablets release the drug slower and steadier rate provide steady drug concentration in the body through tout the day. However ER tablets has got slightly higher cost.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
