What Is The Difference Between An ACE Inhibitor And Beta Blocker?

What is the difference between an ACE inhibitor and a beta blocker? Why would a doctor prescribe one over the other? If I need up in intensive care due to low blood pressure from Lisinipri, an ACE inhibitor, why wouldn t the same problem occur with a beta blocker such as Metoprolol?

ACE Inhibitor and Beta blocker are both Anti hypertensive drugs.
ACE Inhibitor acts by inhibiting the enzyme angiotensin converting enzyme which act over the intermediate substrate finally leading to end product Angiotensin. Angiotensin is a powerful anti hypertensive agent, it a powerful vasodilator, Increase the urine output by indirectly affecting renin. To make it simple it rapidly lowers the BP and used in emergency cases mostly not as a maintenance drug.
On other part Beta blocker metoprolol acts by receptor blocking and cause vasodilatation no action over renal system. Moreover used as a maintenance drug as BP dont fluctuate much and less chances of a hypotensive episodes.
