Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

This answer will be little bit technical. Both wysolone and dexamethasone are steroids. Wysolone will be detected in lab tests while dexamethasone wont be. So if you are looking for your own steroid production the doctor will shift from wysolone to dexamethasone. If cortisol levels is more after taking dexamethasone then your steroid production in body is more (Dexamethasone suppression test).

ACTH test will try to see if cortisol production is low and dexamethasone test will say if it is high.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
