What Is The Difference Between Hernia And Varicocele?

HI Doctor. I have a pain in my left testicle. I noticed a bulging vein on the side. Wearing briefs rather than boxers has helped ease the discomfort ,pain. I notice like a snapping sensation then heavy pain when picking things up 20lbs or greater. Can this be Varicocele or a hernia? What is the difference.. Thanks for your inight -Erubey Puente

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Varicocele is caused by dilatation of veins and hernia is due to protrusion of abdominal contents into scrotum via a defect in abdominal wall. The symptoms suggest a varicocele rather than hernia. I suggest you to consult a surgeon for clinical assessment and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
