What Is The Difference Between Mitral Regurgitation And Trival Mitral Regurgitation?g

Hi doctor, 6months ago i was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse and mild mitral regurgitation, dilated left ventricle, and was given metropol. And now, i went for another 2d echo, and the result was trivial mitral regurgitation, normal left ventricle. My questions are, why the 2 findings were different? Should i do another 2d echo? Or is it possible that in a span of 6 months changes like this happens? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi dear. Thanks for writing on HCM.
Trivial MR is seen in elderly and is not serious. It is infact a grade of mitral regurgitation which is in the initial stages.Metoprolol would have reduced the MR and the stress on you heart and that is the reason for improvement in your recent scan.I would suggest to continue the same treatment if you donot have any side effects.Hope this answers your query.
