Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Difference Between The Services Of A Chiropractor And A Podiatrist For Flat Feet?
Our 7 year old son has been referred by our family doctor for an assessment of his flat footedness to see whether or not he will require orthotics. He was referred to a chiropractor clinic specializing in sports rehabilitation. What is the difference between the services of a chiropractor and a podiatrist with respect to our son s case with potentially requiring orthotics? Or, does it really matter? Also, since he is a child would it be better for him to be treated by doctors at a children s hospital?
* The Chiropractor is providing services of rehabilitation in various orthopedic and muscular disorders with
- relaxation techniques
- general exercises
- heat and ice
- electrotherapy
- counselling for diet and others
* While the Podiatrist is specified for the Podiatry ( foot disorders ) to conduct foot problems rehabilitation, physiotherapy and others. In my opinion, DPM ( Doctor of Podiatric Medicine ) will function better as it is well recognised by American Association of Colleges.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
