I'm 34 years old , female , 5'8 , 154 lbs . Do not smoke , social drinker, Healthy. Past two weeks I have discomfort in my middle/ left chest during eating or right after I eat. It feels like the food isn't going down . It does not happen when I drink . It's not a horrible pain , more of a cramp feeling. Have a dr appt on the 18th of March, should I see a gastroenterologist or my GP first. Also I have tried tums, and Zantac and it does not help.
I am so sorry to hear about this discomfort in your chest especially with food. It would be best to see your primary doctor for preliminary investigations and management. If it is clearly something that he cannot manage, he will then refer you to a Gastroenterologist for further investigation and treatment. For now, try to drink much water after eating to make sure that this feeling of food getting stock in the throat is relieved. Also, try to chew appropriately before swallowing.
I hope you find this helpful. feel free to request for clarification or more information if need be. Thanks for using our services and I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD.
